Three researchers from the Institute for Culture and Society (ICS) at the University of Navarra lead a collection of articles in the journal Frontiers in Human Neuroscience, a high-impact scientific publication associated with Nature Publishing Group.
The speaker is José Ignacio Murillo, director of the project Mind-brain: biology and subjectivity in the Philosophy and in contemporary neuroscience'.and two other experts from group, Javier Bernácer, from campus Pamplona, and José Ángel Lombo, from the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross (Italy).
The collection, called research topic in English, focuses on a current vision of habits in order to bring together philosophical and neuroscientific views. The goal is to bring together theoretical papers with others from subject experimental and integrate various disciplines in a forum for discussion around the study of this topic. The deadline call forabstracts opened at the end of September and ends in December 2013.
Frontiers' initiative
"From the neuroscience perspective, a habit is an automated action and is identified with rigidity and limitation. However, from the classical view of Philosophy, it is a capacity acquired with the internship, which facilitates, improves and reinforces the implementation of certain actions on internship . certain actions. For neuroscience, the acquisition of a habit reduces the action to a simple routine. From the point of view of Philosophy, it implies the cognitive and emotional enrichment of the action," explain the experts.
It was the magazine itself that commissioned group to edit the research topic, after noting a large issue of visits and downloads of a article signed by several members of project under the degree scroll 'An Incomplete Theory of the Mind'.
