Students in their 4th year of Journalism at the University of Navarra have presented 'En Cultura', a 32-page supplement whose purpose is "to offer a portrait of Navarre's culture", according to its director Pablo Berraondo. Blanca Berasategui, director of 'El Cultural' -a weekly magazine of the newspaper 'El Mundo'- attended the event, held at the School of Communication of the academic center, who assured that "it is necessary to make a maximum effort to make quality compatible with diffusion".

The publication, edited by Diario de Navarra and of which 4,500 copies will be distributed, has been produced in the framework of the subject "Edición de diarios y revistas", under the supervision of professors Miguel Ángel Jimeno, Francisco Sancho and Luis Guinea.

"The idea was to talk about Navarre through its cultural scenarios," explains Pablo Berraondo. "We interviewed different representatives of culture in the region, we visited more than 44 towns and points along the Camino de Santiago and we approached the places that inspire creators with the idea of being their eyes, their hands and their minds," he adds. The supplement contains, among other things, a report on the lineage of the Baroja family, others on cinema, architecture and painting in Navarre, interviews with several local artists, as well as a study of the general panorama of culture in the region.

For Teresa Villaverde, assistant director together with María Jiménez of the fifth supplement hosted by subject, the work has been a very positive experience: "It is gratifying to see the materialization of a project that we have created from beginning to end", she assures.

On the other hand, professor Miguel Ángel Jimeno believes that "it has been three months of work as a team, of a very complete journalistic training ". He also explains that "coming up with the idea, elaborating the text, the images, the designs, getting advertising, etc. is an exercise, as we usually say, of 'real fire' with which the students really learn".

In addition to Blanca Berasategui, who was awarded the award Luca de Tena journalism prize and the award Javier Bueno prize for the best specialized journalism awarded by the association de la Prensa de Madrid, the event was attended by Inés Artajo, director of Diario de Navarra; Juan Yeregui, director of RNE in Navarra; and Mónica Herrero, dean of the School de Comunicación, among others.
