The professor of the School of Canon Law José Bernal has been awarded the Silver Medal of the University.

The Silver Medal is awarded to professionals who complete 25 years of work in the academic center.

Professor José Bernal has been recognized with the Silver Medal of the University, awarded to professionals who complete 25 years of work in the academic center. The awarding of the Medal took place on Friday, January 27, the eve of the feast of St. Thomas Aquinas, in a ceremony held at the Museum Theater presided over by the University's President , Alfonso Sánchez-Tabernero.

Born in Murcia on November 25, 1961, José Bernal is a professor of Criminal Law Canonical at the University, where he graduated in Canon Law in 1991 and obtained the doctorate in 1993 with A cum laude with a research on Persona y fiel. The canonical subjectivity in the thought of Pedro Lombardía.

Together with Prof. José Bernal, 104 people have received this distinction, 95 from campus in Pamplona and San Sebastián, and 9 from IESE, who received the medal on December 22 at a ceremony in Barcelona.

In the history of the University, a total of 2,141 people have obtained this award , which adds up to more than 50,000 years of work dedicated to the institution, which currently has 4,542 professionals, among its campus in Pamplona, Barcelona, Madrid and San Sebastian.

During the event, Alfonso Sánchez-Tabernero addressed the medalists with these words: "During these years you have been protagonists of the life of the University of Navarra: of its achievements, of its progress, of the service work carried out".

"He added that in recent years we have suffered a complicated economic and political situation. In this sense, he assured that the University has made every effort to defend the rights of employees and students. "The only desire of those of us who run the University is to assure its economic viability while making this one of the best places to work in the world". "We know that after the storm comes the sun, which illuminates, gives warmth and erases at a stroke the memory of bad times," he concluded.
