In the fourth edition of the Best In Class awards of Gaceta Médica and the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, the specialties of Cardiology and Oncology have also received awards.
The Clínica Universidad de Navarra has won the Best In Class (BIC) awards as the best hospital in Spain for patient care. It has also received the same recognition in the specialties of Cardiology and Oncology. The three distinctions were awarded in the fourth edition of the aforementioned awards, promoted by Gaceta Médica and the Chair of Innovation and Health management of the Rey Juan Carlos University. In previous editions, the Clinic had already been recognized with the award for the best Cardiology department in Spain for its patient care (2008) and the best Oncology department (2007).
In the category of best hospital, the Clínica Universidad de Navarra was awarded among ten finalists. The awards in each of the 19 specialties evaluated were given among five selected entities. In addition to the first places obtained in Cardiology and Oncology, the Clinic was a finalist in the other specialties for which it was presented: Obstetrics and Gynecology, Traumatology, Pharmacy and Psychiatry.
The submission of the awards took place at the Euskalduna Jauregia Conference and Music Palace in Bilbao. During the ceremony, the general director of the Clínica Universidad de NavarraJosé Andrés Gómez Cantero, received the award for Best Hospital in Patient Care from Rafael Bengoa, Minister of Health and Consumption of the Basque Government. In his speech of gratitude, Gómez Cantero underlined the importance of the distinctions received, which he considered to be "a recognition of the work of all the Clinic's professionals, who have been able to give the best of themselves to continue improving the care provided to our patients. Because the award encompasses medical and technological aspects, but also, and especially, issues related to work , waiting lists, attention to the patient and the care provided by the nursing staff ".
Gómez Cantero considered that, in a healthcare environment in which there is a generalized commitment to quality, "the differential factor of the Clínica is its professionals, who try to adapt their interests to those of the patients and are eager to innovate in the way of doing medicine".
