Leading industrial precision with new femtosecond laser acquisitions

The technology center has inaugurated a new precision laser laboratory to drive innovation in the industry.

Femtosecond laser technologies are revolutionizing the industrial landscape, positioning themselves as a solution core topic for production processes that require high precision and sustainability. This subject of lasers offers unique advantages, such as the ability to perform extremely high resolution work without the need for auxiliary chemical elements, which makes them an environmentally friendly alternative. In addition, the technological maturation of these sources and their auxiliary equipment has made them increasingly accessible, expanding their use to sectors such as aerospace, automotive, lighting and biomedicine.

Precision at the service of the industry

Ceit has strengthened its technological capacity in this area with the incorporation of two new state-of-the-art units:

First of all, Ceit has acquired the Lasea LS-4 equipment, a laser system that integrates femtosecond and nanosecond pulses with wavelengths of 1030 nm and 515 nm and in a area of work of up to 400 mm x 600 mm. With this new equipment, Ceit makes available to the Basque and national industry the best femtosecond technology developed in Europe, oriented to design and development of new and robust production processes.

On the other hand, the 50W SatsumaX laser source has been acquired, an equipment that complements the technological offer of Ceit by enabling an independent bank of work that expands the possibilities of laser processing. Specially designed for cylindrical geometries and monitored processes with a definition of less than a micrometer, this high-power source allows new concepts in laser manufacturing to be explored.

With these acquisitions, which have been funded by the AZPITEK program of the Basque Government, Ceit enhances its capabilities and opens up new possibilities in sectors and activities core topic such as frequency selective surfaces (FSS), molds for plastic injection, decorative and functional lighting and the functionalization of implants and industrial processes where it is necessary to define very high definition geometries.

Last November 16, Ceit inaugurated this new laboratory with an event attended by customers and strategic partners. Attendees were able to see firsthand the facilities and technological advances that Ceit has integrated into its femtosecond laser equipment.

With this expansion, Ceit reaffirms its commitment to the industry's technological development , offering advanced manufacturing solutions that combine precision, innovation and sustainability.
