Carmelo Paniagua receives the University's Sports Honour scholarship

More than 400 people participated in a gala in which 24 sportsmen and women and 86 members of the Sports Talent Program

The president of the Royal Spanish Skating Federation (RFEP), Carmelo Paniagua, has received the scholarship of Honor of Sports of the University of Navarra. The submission took place during the Sports Gala, which was attended by 400 people and awarded the most outstanding athletes of the academic center.

Carmelo Paniagua expressed his gratitude for the distinction, which recognizes his professional career and his partnership with the University of Navarra, and said he was moved and excited to receive it "from what is also my home".

A total of 22 athletes in different categories were honored at the event. Paula Alcalde, who competes in karate, and Borja Aizpurua, who plays ice hockey, received the award award for the best athletes of the University of Navarra at Sports Talent Program.

Other professionals, such as the referees' collective, were distinguished for the first time with the "award to Sports Talent". Jorge Juan Gil Nobajas was also recognized with the "award a la partnership deportiva", for his work during 15 years at the head of the Tecnun Sports Club, in the School of Engineers of San Sebastian.

The public enjoyed performances such as the exhibition of the Artistic Skating Club Larre de Beriain, the performance of the winner of the contest La Voz de tu School, Sara source, student of Education and Psychology, or the show of the Magician Numis.

The awards were presented by the Regional Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, Ana Herrera; the director of the high school Navarre Sports and Youth, Rubén Goñi; the Deputy Director Sports of the Government of Navarra, Primitivo Sánchez; the president of the High Court of Justice, Joaquín Galve; and the Vice President Alumni of the University, Tomás Gómez-Acebo, among others.
