Researchers and collaborators participated in activities in Germany, the USA, Spain, Italy, India, the UK, Sweden and the USA.

Emotional culture and identity
Ana Marta González
gave the discussion paper 'Mosquitoes and camels. Critique of irrelevant reason' at the VII Symposium of Ribadesella, organized by the association Philosophy and Contemporary Science, on the question: 'Does truth still matter?'.

 

Rosalía Baena and Rocío Davis participated in IABA Europe 2017: Life Writing, Europe and New Mediak, held at King's College London. The former delivered the session 'Writing Life, Blogging Cancer: Susan Gubar's Memoir of a Debulked Woman' and the latter, 'Who lives, who dies, who tells your story: Authority, Ownership, and Life Narrative in Lin-Manuel Miranda's Hamilton' (London, UK, 7-9/6/2017).

Rocio Davis  gave the plenary lecture 'Nation-building, Life Writing and Emotions in Lin-Manuel Miranda's Hamilton' at the international conference of research hermeneutics: 'Representation and Hermeneutics of Emotions', organized by the University of Zaragoza. (Zaragoza, 20-21/6/2017).

 

Public discourse
Ruth BreezeRuth Breeze presented the communication 'Graduation in populist political discourse: insights from Appraisal' at the 27th European Systemic Functional Linguistics Conference, held at the University of Salamanca (Salamanca, 28/6-1/7/2017).

 

Cristóbal Pagán, Inés Olza y Adriana Gordejuela participated in the 'CREATIME: Creativity and cognition in the representation of time across modalities. International Conference on Multimodal Communication'. (Osnabrück, Germany, 9-11/6/2017).

-Cristóbal Pagán gave the following presentations: 'Brief Introduction to CREATIME: Time in the Creative Mind', 'The network Hen Lab's NewsScape Library and Gesture tagging in the CREATIME project: Methodology, theoretical implications and contribution to machine-learning', and 'Conceptual integration templates for time: converging evidence from big multimodal data'.

Inés Olza gave two presentations: 'The network Hen Lab's NewsScape Library and Gesture tagging in the CREATIME project: Methodology, theoretical implications and contribution to machine-learning' and 'Conceptual integration templates for time: converging evidence from big multimodal data'.

-Adriana Gordejuela dictated the discussion paper 'Film flashbacks and the conceptualization of time'.

Inés Olza presented the paper 'Gesturing disagreement: co-speech gesture and interactive negation in the use of no way in news broadcasts' at the International Conference 'The Pragmatics of Negation', held at Stockholm University. (Stockholm, Sweden, 31/5-2/6/2017). His talk is available at this link (from 4h. 55mins.).

Carmen Llamas presented two papers at the III International Symposium EDiSO, at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra. They were entitled 'Scope and limits in the discursive analysis of popular will in the imaginary of the new politics in Spain' and 'Lexical-discursive analysis of the concept popular will in the current political speech in Spain'.(Barcelona, 28-30/6/2017).

Education of affectivity and human sexuality.
The team participated in a session held at Clínica Universidad de Navarra with sociologist Mark Regnerus, professor at the University of Texas, Austin (USA). It was entitled 'Cheap Sex: the transformation of men, marriage, and monogamy'. Professor Regnerus is researcher of sexual behavior, relational dynamics, and religion. He is currently directing a multi-center project on the Global Recession in Christian Marriage. Jokin de Irala and Raquel Martín Lanas collaborate as representatives in Spain.

Pedro Antonio de la Rosa Fernández Pacheco attended participated in a course on development web for non-technicians at the Alava Technology Park (Vitoria, 3-6/6/2017).

Francisco Güell dictated the lecture-colloquium 'Parental Responsibility and Assisted Human Reproduction' at the closing ceremony of the Master's Degree University in Bioethics of the University Rey Juan Carlos. (Madrid, 27/6/2017).

 

Javier Sánchez Cañizares is on a stay at St. Edmund's College, University of Cambridge (UK, 31/5-24/7/2017). There he offered the seminar 'Ontological emergence: Arguments from Physics' at the Faraday Institute.(27/6/2017).

 

Navarra Center for International Development
Alex Armand attended the first congress of the Society of Economics of the Household (San Diego, USA). He has also met in Washington D.C. with several entities related to development and conflict policies.

Joseph Gomes has participated in a 3IE workshop in New Delhi (India) on agricultural insurance, on the framework of the project that it is developing in Bolivia.


 

Luis Ravina held several meetings in Madrid and attended conferences at the Rafael del Pino Foundation and the Real high school Elcano. He also visited IPADE, the business school of the Universidad Panamericana (Mexico) on the occasion of its 50th anniversary.

Luis Alberiko Gil-Alaña participated in a congress in Japan.

 

 

ATLANTES Programme
Carlos Centeno participated in the meeting of project PAL-LIFE at the Pontifical Academy of Life. (Rome, Italy, 3/6/2017).

The group participated in the XIII congress International Family Nursing, organized by the University of Navarra together with the International Family Nursing Association (IFNA) . (Pamplona, 14-17/6/2017). He presented the following papers:

-'Understanding the Relationship between nurses and Relatives of Terminally ill Patients on acute Hospital Wards': María Arantzamendi.

-'The Gratitude of Families in Palliative Care: a Chance to improve the Quality of Care': María Aparicio, María Arantzamendi, José Miguel Carrasco, Carole Robinson, Carlos Centeno.

-'Dying at Home: The Family Caregiver Perspective': Carole A. Robinson

María Arantzamendi has collaborated in the direction of a work end of Master's Degree in the Master's Degree in Pediatric Palliative Care at the International University of La Rioja.


 

Antonio Noguera gave the session 'teaching of palliative care to medical students" in the Course of update in Palliative Care, organized by the MedLang Program and held at the high school de Médicos de Madrid. (Madrid, 14/6/2017).

 

Religion and Civil Society
Rafael Escobedo Romero presented the communication 'American public opinion and the 1967 religious freedom law' at the seminar 'La batalla del postconcilio en España. La ley de libertad religiosa (1967)', organized by the University of Castilla-La Mancha (Madrid, 2/6/2017).

 

Statistics Unit
Jesús López Fidalgo
 participated as vice-president of the Spanish Statistical Society (SEIO) and representative of Navarra in the national phase of the competition 'Incubadora de sondeos y experimentos'. (Oviedo, 28-30/06/2017)
