"It is a joy to have you here and to be able to give classes in person," confessed the dean, Mercedes Perez, at the workshop Start of the course that the School of Nursing held for its new students on August 31. Listening to her were the 130 students who this year begin the Degree in Nursing.

The dean reminded them how, in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, the profession has been at the forefront, drawing their attention to how important their chosen career path is. "You are going to train to serve society as nurses," she stressed to them. "This stage of your life is very important because it is now that you are beginning to be what you want to be. And you are fortunate that you have been admitted to the University of Navarra," he said. "These four years go by very quickly: make the most of them. The possibilities are the same for everyone (professors, internships, international experience...), but the answer is staff," he concluded.

After the dean, the Vice-Dean for Students and Office of Academic Affairs spoke to the new students. Ana Choperena encouraged them to have a sense of group. "Although this year, circumstantially because of the measures imposed by Covid-19, you are going to be separated into two groups, you are going to spend four years with the same staff and you will forge the best friendships. When a group is well cohesive, it grade will improve academic performance," he explained to them.

The Vice-Dean also explained to the new students the figure of mentor and insisted on the need for everyone's responsibility to comply with the use of masks, distance and basic hygiene measures. "We have worked hard to make this possible," she said, referring to the face-to-face classes, "With little, we achieved a lot," she insisted.

The teacher Elena Bermejo, 1st year coordinator, closed the brief workshop with a session aimed at getting the students to get to know each other a little. Through a dynamic in Zoom, the teacher was launching questions about their background, hobbies, talents ... At the end, she asked the students an exercise of reflection about their concerns and what they expect from this first course, and encouraged them to share it with who they had next to them.
