The University of Navarra has a new subject, Business Creation and Business Promotion, as of this 2001-2002 academic year. Starting in February, about 50 students will take this subject of the School of Economic and Business Sciences, promoted by the Foundation business -University of Navarra with the goal aim of encouraging the entrepreneurial spirit and initiative of university students.

Its content will be mainly practical. Students will have the opportunity to develop an individual business plan with expert business advice. The assessment will mainly assess the consistency and viability of this plan, which will be defended by each student.

Business Creation and training Business is part of a set of activities that the Foundation business-University of Navarra promotes to encourage the entrepreneurial spirit of university students. In this sense, this institution has several programs, such as the Innovamás project contest, conference of awareness and business motivation aimed at students and graduates of the different Schools or courses of training initial on how to set up a business and be an entrepreneur.

No need for prior corporate training

No previous business training is required to follow the program of this subject, taught by Ricardo Mateo, professor at School of Economics and Business Administration at the University of Navarra. The subject is aimed at students in the 2nd cycle of licentiate degree or in the last year of diploma program of any degree program. All that is needed is a computer to participate in a business game in which the management of the most important variables will be simulated and to use the Internet to develop the business plan.

In addition, the subject offers the possibility of a complementary online training and the intervention of entrepreneurs who will offer their experience to the students. The program will also explain, for example, how to start a new business, what is the profile of the entrepreneur, how to launch a business without financial resources, what is the economic control of a business or how to carry out the marketing of a new product.
