The Sports Service of the University of Navarra has organized three sessions of initiation to kendo, one modality of the most successful martial arts in recent years. The sessions, which will be free of charge, will take place from 8 p.m. on Wednesdays 12, 19 and 26 February at the sports center of the University of Navarra.
The goal of the course will be to introduce basic body movements, basic cutting movements, and combat experience. All those who are initiated in this discipline and during their exercises are able to score a point to an experienced partner will receive a award.
Kendo is a martial art that gathers the techniques of Japanese sword fencing (a shinai or bamboo sword is used).
It is used especially as a complement in the Education of children, since in addition to the benefits of physical activity is a means to instill values such as the importance of effort for self-improvement, companionship, respect for the opponent, the label and courtesy rules ....
The competition can be individual or by teams and consists of bouts in which each competitor tries to reach his opponent by means of a correct and perfectly executed technique.
