"I think we have very good entrepreneurs at the head of theater companies, although they are few and very focused; but the theater that reaches the stage is highly influenced by the interests of the exhibitors, which are public or private entrepreneurs who run the venues". This is how Ignacio Amestoy, professor at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art technical school , expressed himself at the University of Navarra. The playwright intervened, together with his daughter Ainhoa, actress, in a talk he held with students of the university center. Father and daughter had been invited to Pamplona on the occasion of the III Theater Week organized by the Service of Cultural Activities Office and Social of the University of Navarra.

The playwright commented that "these entrepreneurs, above all, those from the periphery, base their offer on quantitative criteria, with plays that guarantee them a massive response, or on a very qualitative criterion, of agreement with the established culture. That is to say, if they program a Shakespeare and it is not successful, they are not worried because they have programmed a Shakespeare and that does sell to the culture councilor on duty".

Ignacio Amestoy, former director attachment of Diario 16 and current partner of El Mundo, also pointed out that "the alternative theaters have been a nursery of experimentation of a theater where a series of talents have been able to develop, but what has to be opened and regenerated is the business and distribution sector, both public and private. There are talents in writing, acting and theater direction, but they lack the appropriate channels to move forward".

Regarding the generation of young authors, he said that "they have not yet been able to connect with the public. It is a theater that cannot remain cloistered in itself and has to go outside. They have to stain their shoes by reaching the public, which also means staining their theater and fleeing from a certain purism. That is the challenge for them to be recognized".

University and theater, "logical correspondence".

Amestoy referred to the III Theater Week of the University of Navarra. "The fusion between the University and the theater is a logical correspondence, which is going to increase. Already students with degrees in Dramatic Art are obtaining a Degree equivalent to graduates in other careers, and there are even many who are taking the doctorate".

For her art, Ignacio Amestoy's daughter, Ainhoa, acknowledged that it is not easy to find a niche in this profession and that many people have no choice but to go to Madrid if they want to dedicate themselves to the world of theater. "They sign up at a theater school, learn and combine it with working in bars or weekend jobs. When they finish school, they try to look for work, but unfortunately it is not so easy to find it."

However, he pointed out that "new schools are being formed all the time, which provide a good training, and young people are having good opportunities. In addition, television series are being made where young people are the protagonists".
