Meeting people at college isn’t always as easy as it seems. Between classes, established and closed-off study groups, conflicting schedules, and a social life increasingly mediated by screens, many students may miss having simple spaces where they can meet others naturally. Out of this concern, Meetings was born—a project at the University that aims to create opportunities for students to get to know one another. The initiative is coordinated by Adriana Rosso, Irene Vázquez, and Lena Quintero, medical students who organize social, cultural, and creative activities to foster face-to-face interactions among students from different years and Schools.

During the 2025–2026 academic year, Meetings organized several gatherings in various formats. The first, attended by 41 people, took place in September at the Amigos Building and featured bingo, icebreaker games, and other activities designed to facilitate initial conversations.

Next came "Beer to Peer," an activity organized around small groups spread across various bars in Pamplona to bring together students who didn't know each other and encourage more relaxed conversation outside the usual class setting. Thirty-three people participated in the activity. With 61 attendees, the "inter-faculty trivia game" allowed students from different academic backgrounds to enjoy a relaxed time together with questions based on core topic the sciences versus the humanities.

In January, Meetings also organized Choco & Paint, a chocolate-and-painting event held at Unibooking that was attended by about 40 students. The event concluded with a Post-study soirée, a small get-together following a workshop for final exams.

Plans away from screens

The founders of Meetings explain that the project after observing how social media has changed the way young people interact. Although digital tools can help people stay contact, they wanted to create spaces where that first step still happens in person. Their goal: to foster "face-to-face" relationships among university students and contribute to a more open, united, and vibrant community.

Following this first year of activities, Meetings is working on development and on new initiatives for the coming year. The goal is to consolidate the project continue offering programs that expand the student community, help them get to know Pamplona, and allow them to discover that, sometimes, a good conversation begins with sharing a table, a trivia question, or a cup of hot chocolate.
