Students from Spain, Puerto Rico and El Salvador make up the first graduating class of Master's Degree at research in Social Sciences.

Four students are attending the Master's Degree thanks to an scholarship from Social Trends Institute and three others, thanks to a scholarship University of Navarra-group Santander

Nine students from Spain, Puerto Rico and El Salvador make up the first graduating class of Master's Degree at research in Social Sciences (MICS), which was inaugurated in the 2016-2017 academic year. The program, accredited by the National Agency for Assessment of Quality and Accreditation, is coordinated by the Institute for Culture and Society and counts with the direct partnership of the Schools of Communication, Law, Education and Psychology, Nursing, and Philosophy and Letters.

Four students are attending Master's Degree thanks to an scholarship from Social Trends Institute; two, thanks to a scholarship Incentive from the University of Navarra; and another, thanks to a scholarship incentive and a scholarship University of Navarra-group Santander.

The MICS is offered as a gateway to entrance for students wishing to enter the interdisciplinary research in the social sciences. Its training program allows students to specialize in six tracks: Communication, Geography, Linguistics, Education, Law and Nursing.

María José Benítez, from El Salvador, has chosen pathway from Education and Psychology. She says that, as a lawyer, she has worked on issues related to protection from violence and children and will focus her thesis on related aspects. "I want to learn qualitative and quantitative tools. My goal is to be able to collect data that can be used to develop evidence-based public policies," she says.

Pablo Quiñonero, graduate in Audiovisual Communication, explains that he chose pathway in Communication in order to "acquire research skills". "I study music at the conservatory -he emphasizes- and I want to take this knowledge to my field, communication". 

Sofía Brotons has a degree in Philosophy and Journalism and has chosen to combine the Psychology and Linguistics tracks: "I hope that Master's Degree will serve me as tool to make doctorate fruitful. I plan to research language disorders and relate them to issues of emotional intelligence".
