The Chemistry medicine and the renewable sector, new employment opportunities for science graduates

Fifty students of the last years of Biology, Chemistry and Biochemistry participated in the workshop of Labor Introduction organized by the School of Sciences of the University of Navarra.

The students received training on different tools for the search of employment, the importance of professional skills and human values, the role of the Careers Services of the academic center; as well as orientation of the postgraduate courses or the doctorate to continue with the training after finishing their degree program.

 

Chemistry of medicines and renewables

In relation to the emerging sectors of employment for these graduates, the workshop highlighted the strong incursion of the Chemistry of medicines, linked to several innovative companies that have emerged in recent years and little affected by the current crisis.

On the other hand, the field of renewable energies was proposed as a area where biologists, chemists and biochemists will be able to increase their career prospects.

In this sense, in the current academic year, the number of employment offers received by the University of Navarra for scientists has doubled, reaching 70, 62 and 66 in Biology, Biochemistry and Chemistry, respectively. Chemistry In addition, employment rate has increased by 1.5% in spite of the economic situation.
