32 million euros were invested thanks to the good result of the year and of previous years.

During the 2022-23 academic year, the University of Navarra and the associated research centers (Cima y Ceit) had a result of 29.9 million euros, up from 22.1 million euros in the previous year. The University increased its revenues to 663 million euros, 48 more than in 2021-22, a 7.8% increase, due to the growth of the activity professor, assistance and research. As a result, the academic centers and research, the Clinic and IESE Business School closed the year with a surplus.

As a non-profit institution, the University reinvests this surplus in its ordinary activity, new projects and infrastructure improvements. In the 2022-23 academic year, the investments made reached 32 million euros, thanks to the good result of the academic year and previous years. These investments included the acquisition by the Clínica in Pamplona of a magnetic resonance accelerator for radiation oncology, the refurbishment of the Igara building in San Sebastián, and the installation of new technological solutions at IESE's Madrid and Barcelona campuses.

Overall operating expenses also grew, reaching 638 million euros, 47 million more than the previous year (up 8 percent), while the financial result stood at +4.7 million euros. This is reflected in the financial report for the 2022-23 academic year, which summarizes the activity of the four campus located in Pamplona, San Sebastian, Madrid and Barcelona, as well as IESE's international campuses.

In addition to this growth, the University of Navarra reached 6,556 professionals, 4,476 of whom work in Pamplona. The allocation for staff was the largest, 56% of the total expense, and amounted to 356 million, 9.2% more than in the 2021-22 academic year.

Regarding research, the University increased its scientific production and carried out more than 650 projects with a budget of more than 130 million euros. A priority line of Strategy 2025, research has been core topic the start-up of new centers in recent decades, as well as the increase in the capacity to attract funding from the different groups.

Revenues and expenses by center

The academic centers and research earned 222 million euros - up 6.4% - due to the increase in the issue of students from Degree, Master's Degree and doctorate, and the competitive funding obtained for research; and the Clínica increased its income to 326 million - up 7.1% - due to the growth in healthcare activity both in Pamplona and at the Madrid site.

In terms of expenses, those of the teaching centers and research amounted to 218 million, up 7.9%, and those of the Clinic to 307 million, up 6.2%.

The economic data of the different centers includes all the transactions of academic year. However, when presenting the information in an aggregated manner, the transactions carried out between centers have been eliminated.

6.6 million euros for scholarships

The General Manager, Álvaro Balibrea, thanked the work and the effort of the professionals of the academic center, "which has had an impact on the improvement of the activity professor, assistance and research". At the same time, he pointed out that "the goal is to continue to maintain the pace of growth in order to be able to make new investments that will improve the service and the stability of the staff".

subject As for the aid received, the General Manager highlighted that 7,732 people and 361 companies and institutions have made a financial donation to the University in the 2022-23 academic year. "Their generosity - Balibrea remarked - has made it possible to allocate more than 24 million euros to different projects". Of these donations, more than 13 million have gone directly to research, 6.6 million to scholarships, 3.7 million to construction and activities of the University of Navarra Museum of Art and more than 1.5 million to other concepts.
