The University brings together 350 experts from 32 countries for an international congress on storytelling

More than 350 experts from 32 countries met quotation at the University of Navarra to participate in the congress International Narrative Conference. The meeting was organized by the International Society for the Study of Narrative (ISSN) and the School of Philosophy and Letters, in partnership with the Institute for Culture and Society (ICS) of the academic center.

The speakers, from universities such as Columbia University, the University of California and York University, among others, addressed narrative from perspectives such as cinema, comics, television and even narrative in the field of medicine, ecology and video games. The central conferences were given by Rebecca Garden, from the Upstate Medical University of New York, and Julie Rak, from the University of Alberta in Canada.

Rosalía Baena, dean of the School of Philosophy and Letters and coordinator of the congress, together with professors Rocío Davis and Anabel Martínez, pointed out that "meetings like this one, which for the first time is held in Spain, enrich the visibility of the University's professor offer, such as the Degree in Literature and Creative Writing, or the Degree at Philology ". "They have been very enriching days of training , focused on good literature and its future prospects," he added.

The congress also served as framework to pay tribute to Shlomith Rimmon-Kenan, professor at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and expert in the narrative of various disciplines, such as psychoanalysis, historiography and law.

This congress is an initiative of the International Society for the Study of Narrative, a non-profit association dedicated to the research, which currently has a thousand members. The first lecture was held at Ohio State University in 1986 and has since been held annually in various parts of the United States, Canada, and Europe. MIssississippi State University in New Orleans will be the next venue for congress, in 2020.
