Mariano Crespo, researcher of project 'Emotional culture and identity' of the Institute for Culture and Society of the University of Navarra, has published a new book together with Urbano Ferrer, professor at the University of Murcia. It is entitled Die Person im Kontext von Moral und Sozialität. Studien zur frühen phänomenologischen Ethik (The person in the context of morality and sociality. programs of study on early phenomenological ethics).

The essays collected in this volume address ethical and social issues within early phenomenology. "It considers the contributions of the authors of the so-called "Göttingen Circle" to hitherto insufficiently analyzed themes in Edmund Husserl's thought. Among them are the relationship between affectivity and reason in Moritz Geiger, the a priori grounding of social acts in Adolf Reinach, the a priori laws of values or the research of contemporary social and political currents in Maximilian Beck," he expresses.

"Insofar as Husserl addressed these issues again and again, this book constitutes a discussion of Husserlian analyses of the ethical and social dimensions of the human being," explains Mariano Crespo.

As he points out, one of the central themes of the book is the relationship between emotions and ethics: "In the face of a certain tradition that scorns the sphere of moral emotions, excluding them from the meaning of the human person, this book aims to contribute to show that the human person is not exhausted in the dualism of reason and sensitivity.

Mariano Crespo is researcher of project 'Emotional culture and identity' of the ICS, funded by Seguros Zurich, and Adjunct Professor at department of Philosophy of the University of Navarra. His monographs include El valor ético de la afectividad. programs of study de ética fenomenológica (Ediciones Universidad Católica de Chile, 2012), El perdón. Una research filosófica (Ediciones meeting, 2004). He has also edited the volume Menschenwürde: Metaphysik und Ethik (Winter, 1998).
