José Ignacio Goirigolzarri, CEO of BBVA, visited the research center Applied Medicine (CIMA) of the University of Navarra. As is known, the bank is part of the joint venture created to finance the center. During the visit, he was accompanied by the director general of CIMA. Francisco Errasti stressed the importance of an institution such as BBVA investing in biotechnology: "In this way it is integrated into a project of great interest for science in Spain and can participate in the benefits derived from the biomedical research . In addition, we must not forget the enormous mass of beneficiaries - in reality we are all beneficiaries - of a research that seeks solutions to the most frequent diseases in today's society".

For his part, José Ignacio Goirigolzarri showed great interest in the research carried out at CIMA, in line with the bank's commitment to having a presence in the biotechnology sector. He also asked specific questions about the path followed by research from the time something is discovered -for example, a marker that predicts a disease- to the ultimate goal of putting it at the service of patients.
