The University and the UPNA organize next week a new edition of the "'Campus Inclusive, campus without limits".
Sixteen young people with physical or intellectual disabilities or at risk of social exclusion will get to know different Schools of the two campus
To achieve an inclusive campus . This is that people with disabilities or at risk of exclusion find the conditions to be able to study in any of the two universities in Navarra. This is the goal of the VII edition of these conference that have organized during the next week the University of Navarra and the Public University of Navarra, which joins for the first time to this project. The program is promoted by the ONCE Foundation, the Repsol Foundation and the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities.
From this Saturday, September 7, Schools of the two campus will open its doors to 16 young people. They come from Navarra, but also from Valladolid, Madrid, Guipúzcoa, Zaragoza, Granada and Venezuela, Colombia, Morocco or Peru. Each one with their particularities, with different Degrees of physical or intellectual disability but with a dream that can come true: to study at a university. The only requirement to access the program was to have completed the previous year the 4th year of ESO (Education Compulsory Secondary Education), high school diploma or training cycles of Degree Medium of training Professional.
The program, which will run until September 15, aims to reduce the school withdrawal of people with disabilities or at risk of exclusion, promote their access to the university Education , promote inclusive Education , and ensure the rights and continuity of the university programs of study under conditions of equality and equity. "This inclusive campus is a good opportunity for the University and university life to share space with these boys and girls who, on so many occasions, find it difficult to enjoy and get to know this institution," says Lucía Martínez Virto, director of area of Action and Equality of the Vice-Rectorate for University Projection, Culture and knowledge dissemination, the body that has prepared the program at UPNA through the Social Action and Equality Unit. "We are very pleased to welcome them in this house and show them that this University can also be a possible horizon for them". For her part, Paula Salvador, manager of the program at the University of Navarra, through the social service volunteer activities Tantaka, added: "The goal is that the two universities open their doors to students with different abilities and at risk of social exclusion. Let them know that if they want, there are means and possibilities for them. Let them have the opportunity to experience the University".
The event features academic, cultural, athletic, and inclusive recreational activities, as well as workshops on the academic offerings of both universities and guidance on programs of study. Students will have the opportunity to explore the Schools Architecture, Education Psychology, and Medicine, as well as the programs of study studios and programs of study used at the School of Communication at the University of Navarra; also, the department Sciences, the research and Training Farm of the Higher Technical School of Agricultural Engineers, the Jerónimo de Ayanz Center, take a tour to discover the nearly one hundred species and varieties of trees and shrubs on campus , or visit the School of Science at the Public University of Navarra. Participants will be able to enjoy a musical performance position Xabier Armendáriz Arraiza, graduate Business Administration and Management from the UPNA and graduate Piano and Musicology from the Higher Conservatory of Music of Navarra. Twelve hours a day for nine days to experience all the possibilities the university has to offer.
