Beginning of the Master's Degree in internship Advanced Nursing in Oncology

The I promotion of this Master's Degree started at the headquarters of postgraduate program Alumni of the campus of Madrid of the University of Navarra.

On October 5th, classes began at campus of Madrid of the University of Navarra of the Master's Degree University in internship of Nursing in Oncology. This is the first edition of this postgraduate program of the School of Nursing, which has been training in the role of the EPA for almost 15 years.

The session was attended by the director of the Campus, Ángel Gómez Montoro, who welcomed the new students to the University to a campus "which began its journey 4 years ago with 167 students and in the course 22/23 has almost 600 students". He emphasized the need for the training of postgraduate program "our Alumni demanded a training of Master's Degree, that is why this building was built, and we really wanted to have a nursing postgraduate program ".

A guest speaker at the session was Dr. Antonio Gonzalez, director physician of the department oncology department of the Clínica Universidad de Navarrawho addressed the nurses as a team "that is present everywhere, wherever you look, and especially in the area of cancer". She also spoke of the importance of the new Master's Degree: "you will learn many competencies and skills of advanced internship , such as teaching, leadership, management, clinical governance, quality and research that will positively impact the patient and the hospital."

Subsequently, the director of Master's Degree, Navidad Canga, encouraged the students to take advantage of this course: "with the launching of Master's Degree, we are celebrating 15 years of training in internship advanced School. THEIR preparation led us to maintain contacts with top level hospitals in the United States, such as the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston". The classrooms of the School "have had 170 students from all over the world".

Finally, the dean of the School, Mercedes Pérez Diez del Corral, ended the session with a reflection: "Many of you have a long professional experience. I invite you to take a step back to reflect on your internship in order to come back with a new and stronger sense. It is about knowing what the different social realities are like so that you can transform them for the benefit of the oncology patient".

A total of 20 students have chosen the University of Navarra to train in this postgraduate program. Nurses with different professional profiles, with years of experience in the professional internship , and recent graduates. All of them come from hospitals in Madrid, Navarra and Catalonia, such as Hospital 12 de Octubre, Hospital Gregorio Marañón, from group QuirónSalud, from the Institut Català d'Oncologia of the Clínica Universidad de Navarra, at its headquarters in Madrid.
