"The use and integration of artificial intelligence in higher Education has led to question traditional educational methods and to raise the need for a different knowledge transfer". This was stated at the University of Navarra by philologist Cristina Aranda, co-founder of the startups Big Onion and MujeresTech, at the opening ceremony of FORUN, a congress by students for students, which seeks to be a space for reflection and dialogue on current issues.
The expert in artificial intelligence addressed the more than 200 attendees on the challenges posed by AI, its impact on people's lives, its ethical or legal implications and the role played by the human factor, among other issues. Asked about the fear that the use of artificial intelligence generates in society, Aranda stressed that this subject of tools are already part of people's lives (from Google Maps, to social networks), and argued that we must learn to recognize its presence and use it in a way manager. "We must assume that technology has changed the rules of the game, so Education and update are core topic to embrace it without fear," he said.
"Artificial intelligence needs humanistic profiles"
As Aranda explained, "80% of the data of companies and public administrations are philological data , they are words". With a degree and doctorate in Philology, it was when she trained in SEO positioning (techniques to improve the positioning and visibility of content in the main browsers) that she discovered the relationship between her linguistic training and the technology sector.
Cristina Aranda assured that people trained in the field of Humanities can contribute a lot in this new panorama: "There is a very close relationship between Philology and Artificial Intelligence; something as everyday as a Google search is based on keywords and lexical-semantic networks, which underlines the importance of linguistics. Artificial intelligence needs humanistic profiles," he concluded.
