Nursing has to add value to care, the team and the organization
Nursing directors explain their selection criteria for staff in the second session of conference of career guidance of the School Nursing

"If you add value to care, to the team and to the organization; you have work assured," said Mercedes Ferro, director of nursing at the Navarra Hospital Complex, in the second session of the VI conference Orientation for Academic and Professional Nursing development (JOP). To achieve this, Ferro encouraged the attendees not to stop training and specializing, bearing in mind that in Nursing "it is important that the educational activity is accredited".
Also participating in the roundtable, held on the 3rd at the School de Enfermería under the degree scroll "development professional in Spain and employment rate", were the nursing directors Carmen Vázquez, from MD Anderson Cancer Center in Madrid, and Victoria Muñoz, from Hospital Quirón in Bizkaia and manager territorial nursing director for the Northern Zone of group Hospitalario Quirón. Inmaculada Serrano, vice dean of students at School Nursing, moderated the session.
More than 90 people attended the meeting in which the speakers insisted on the importance of choosing a path of specialization and having an "attitude of continuous learning," said Vázquez.
specialization and training from postgraduate programIn her speech, Ferro took the opportunity to explain to future nursing professionals the channels to follow in order to work in the public health network . In addition to explaining the training requirements necessary to obtain a place, she explained other qualities that help a temporary place to become a permanent position, such as "the ability to work in a team, have a positive attitude towards change and have a sense of belonging to the values of the organization".
Regarding how to acquire a work space in a private institution, Carmen Vázquez and Victoria Muñoz explained how their centers work and what their selection criteria are for staff.
For her part, Vázquez encouraged the students to"take advantage of the opportunities and not to stop training". She insisted on the need to have specialization of postgraduate program and to consider "the research in nursing as part of the professional internship ".
In the same line Muñoz insisted that, in addition to theoretical and practical knowledge, "you have to know how to be and know how to be", qualities that are acquired by specializing and that are necessary to achieve the competencies that allow the good practice of the profession. "It is time to continue training, because health evolves every day," said Muñoz.
In the same workshop there was also another roundtable on how to become a member of a professional association to practice internship and the creation of a business as a nursing professional alternative.
