Experts from different countries to reflect at the University on the protection of minors in the Church and other canonical novelties
Cardinal Ricardo Blázquez will inaugurate the Course at update on the 14th.
On November 14 and 15, the University of Navarra will bring together more than a hundred international experts to study the protection of minors in the Church and other canonical novelties. The Course of update of the School of Canon Law will analyze through nine sessions the profound changes that are taking place in the praxis of the Church in relation, not only with the criminal and procedural treatment of crimes against minors, but also in the measures of protection of minors to prevent these crimes as far as possible.
Professor Rafael Rodríguez Ocaña, president of the Course of update, assures that these topics have been chosen precisely because they have produced important legislative novelties: "In a special way it is worth mentioning the new papal norms that are the fruit of the meeting that took place in Rome, in February of this year, on the protection of minors in the Church, to which the Roman Pontiff summoned the presidents of the Episcopal Conferences and other authorities of the Church".
The Cardinal and President of the Spanish Episcopal lecture , Ricardo Blázquez, will open the meeting on Thursday, November 14, with the session "The protection of minors in the Church". discussion paper Afterwards, Carlos López Segovia, vice-secretary for General Affairs at the Spanish Episcopal lecture , will give a talk on"The current situation and challenges in Spain of the criminal administrative procedure on the most serious crimes".
Jordi Bertomeu Farnós, official of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, will offer the third lecture focused on "The praxis of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith in the crimes of abuse". The last session on Thursday will be given by the professor of the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross (Rome), Davide Cito, and will focus on "The right of defense in the processes on crimes of abuse of minors".
lecture The talks on Friday, November 15, will focus on current issues of Canon Law and will begin with a presentation by Fr. Bruno Esposito, O.P., professor at the Pontificia Università San Tommaso d'Aquino - Angelicum (Rome), on "Apostolic Constitution Veritatis Gaudium and the Norms of Application; Instr. programs of study of Canon Law in the light of the reform of the marriage process".
Antonio Viana, Dean of the School of Canon Law of the University of Navarra, will address the session "Apostolic Constitution Episcopalis communio on the Synod of Bishops". The third lecture, "The teaching of religion in a multi-religious context", will be given by Paola Buselli Mondin, Rotal lawyer (Modena).
María Blanco, professor at the University of Navarra, will offer the first lecture on Friday afternoon, on "Women in the Church". Finally, Sister Julia Corengia, MD, of the administrative office for Contemplative Life (Episcopal Commission for Consecrated Life. lecture Spanish Episcopal), will close the Course of update with a discussion paper on "Instr. Cor orans that applies the Apostolic Constitution Vultum Dei quaerere on the feminine contemplative life".
