A new tool biostatistics will save costs for centers and students at Degree and doctorate
María José Calasanz and Marta García Granero, professors at School of Sciences of the University of Navarra, show the application they have created.
Professors Marta García Granero and María José Calasanz, researchers at department of Genetics of the School of Sciences of the University of Navarra, have created a new tool biostatistics that can be used by students of Degree and Master's Degree and doctorate, researchers and professors of the University and other centers.
The goal, according to its creator, Marta García Granero, "consists of facilitating the work of students and scientists who need this subject of applications to manage the results of their research, cross-reference data or obtain conclusions, so that they can use this tool from the university, from home or from any work center, and free of charge".
The tool - which can now be downloaded from the department website at Genetics- is called UNStat and has been developed for both PC and Mac, with versions in Spanish and English. "In addition - adds María José Calasanz, professor at Genetics and collaborator at project- this program can be used for the preliminary analysis of data, as well as to complement some statistical methods not included in statistical packages of subject of SPSS".
A project of innovation in education
Apart from its usefulness, the specialists highlight the simplicity with which it is handled, the advantage that it does not require installation, its high interactivity and the confirmation that the results offered so far "have been very accurate", emphasizes Marta García Granero.
In fact, the resource professor is already being used by students of Biology, Biochemistry and Chemistry. UNStat has also been chosen as project of innovation in education by the University, which promotes this subject of initiatives to improve the quality professor and research.
