Ten students awarded at the VIII International Student Oncology congress

The meeting, held at the University of Navarra, brought together 185 students from Spain, Russia and Germany.

Ten students have been awarded for their oral and poster presentations at the latest edition of the congress International Oncology for Students of the University of Navarra, which this year brought together 185 students from Spain, Russia and Germany.

The winners of the best exhibition, according to the scientific committee of congress, were Victoria Bueno and Lorea Martínez Indart, students of Medicine of the University of the Basque Country, for the communication"Estudio Multicéntrico Observacional Prospectivo sobre la Incidencia de la "Reagudización Transitoria (FLARE) del Dolor en Pacientes Tratados con Radioterapia por Metástasis Óseas Dolorosas"(Prospective Observational Multicenter Study on the Incidence of "Transitory Flare-Up of Pain in Patients Treated with Radiotherapy for Painful Bone Metastases)".

On the other hand, the award for the best oral exhibition went to the medical students of the University of Navarra Pablo Bazal, Laura Reguera, Borja Lacunza, Alberto Muñoz and Iraitz Ibarrola, who presented the work "Microvesicles in Peripheral Blood: Can they be the New Biomarkers in Glioblastoma Multiforme?".

The third award, awarded to the best poster, went to the Pharmacy students Mª Pilar Monforte, Naiara Ilarregui and María Escalada de la Victoria, also from the University of Navarra. Their poster was entitled"Influence of Genetic Polymorphisms on the Response to Metrotexate Treatment".

Under the heading "Cancer and the future", the VIII edition of this congress, organized entirely by students of Medicine, Science, Pharmacy and Nursing, explored the latest developments in cancer treatments and the most cutting-edge research presented by a dozen international experts.
