With revenues in excess of 26 million euros, Ceit is positioning itself as an increasingly robust and sustainable technology center.

The consolidation of the human team and research excellence mark a strategic exercise for the center.

Ceit has published its annualreport for the 2024 financial year, a year in which the center has achieved results described as "exceptional" by its executive president, Eduardo Ayesa. In a global context marked by geopolitical and economic uncertainty, Ceit has managed to raise its revenues to 26.5 million euros, an increase of 19% compared to the 22.2 million obtained in 2023.

This growth has been possible thanks to a solid balance between research and development with companies (12.1 M€) and own research and development projects (12.3 M€), together with other complementary sources of funding (2.1 M€).

A committed team

Ceit closed the year with a staff of 269 people, of which 53% are technology generation researchers and 23% transfer researchers. The rest of the team is made up of research support staff (13%) and administration and services staff (11%).

"We remain committed to making Ceit the best possible place to train and develop a professional degree program of excellence," said Eduardo Ayesa, who also highlighted the growth in the issue of doctorate students and the quality of the strategic infrastructures put in place in recent years.

Scientific production and projects with impact

During 2024, Ceit has maintained its commitment to scientific production, with 57 scientific articles published, 98 communications at conferences and 9 doctoral thesis defended.

The projects developed this year have had a strong approach to manufacturing, sustainability and digitalization, with relevant advances in sectors such as offshore wind, semiconductors, bioeconomy and advanced materials. This activity has been possible thanks to the support of public institutions, in particular the Basque Government and the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa.

In addition, recognition of its excellence has also materialized in its role as the top national beneficiary of the Cervera call for Technological Centers of Excellence.

Prepared for the future

The closing of the 2024 fiscal year marks the final phase of the 2022-2025 Strategic Plan, and the center's management is positive about the alignment between public funding and market opportunities thanks to the technological assets. "We are focused on our objectives and we are equipped with the technology and talent necessary to lead innovation and continue to be a benchmark," said Ayesa.

Ceit is thus preparing to face new challenges with confidence, driven by a solid base of talent, scientific excellence and partnership with companies and public institutions. In the words of its executive president: "With everyone's partnership , I have no doubt that we can continue to look to the future with enthusiasm and confidence".
