The ICS hosts the virtual submission of a United Nations WSIS 2020 World award to the association Innovactoras from Navarre

It is the only Spanish entity distinguished in the edition and its work is to connect promote and support innovative STEAM through initiatives such as the network WINN of ICS

committee The Navarre-based association Innovactoras has received one of the WSIS (World Summit on the Information Society) 2020 Global Awards from the United Nations Economic and Social Council (Ecosoc) in the category of International and Regional Cooperation. It is the only Spanish entity distinguished in this edition. Some of its members, along with authorities of the Government of Navarra, connected to the virtual ceremony from the University of Navarra's Institute for Culture and Society (ICS) of the University of Navarra. Precisely, one of Innovactoras' initiatives, network WINN, is part of the ICS.

This 9th edition of the WSIS 2020 Forum was to be held in April 2020 in Geneva (Switzerland), but has been postponed to September and has taken place online due to the global Covid-19 pandemic. 

Present at the ICS were, among others, Miriam Martón, director General Manager of the Navarre Service of employment / Nafar Lansare; Agurtzane Martínez Ortigosa, general director of Innovation of the department University, Innovation and Digital Transformation of the Government of Navarra; Sergio Pérez García, from the Enterprise European Network; and Gonzalo Soto Escudero, manager of the Inicia Line of Caja Rural. Also in attendance were the founders of association Innovactoras: María Beunza, partner of Happeninn Innovación (who connected remotely); María Cruz Díaz de Terán, coordinator of network WINN of the ICS; Celia Pinedo Pardo, from Fundación Fabre; and Ana Belén Albero, from association Navarra para la Innovación, la Creatividad y la Cultura.

development The United Nations Economic and Social committee reiterates the importance of exchanging best practices on a global scale for promote the information society aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). 

In that vein, it promotes the WSIS Global Awards to evaluate projects and activities that harness the power of information and communication technologies to advance towards a sustainable development . Winning projects and champions are showcased in the WSIS Global Success Inventory publication.

After an exhaustive review of the projects submitted, which was carried out by the WSIS team and position and a group of experts, Innovactoras was one of the five winners in its category last January, after having received more than 5,000 votes.

Making female referents visible

WSIS highlights that Innovactoras is a platform that connects, promotes and supports innovators from different realities of the 21st century: science, technology, business, Education and society. It also highlights the value of the prizes awarded annually to women who develop their profession in the STEAM field.

Within the association is framed network WINN (network Ibero-American Innovation and training to Strengthen the Female Impact in Innovation Ecosystems) of the ICS, which has as goal to make visible female references through the research, the drive for innovation, the training and the knowledge dissemination.

network WINN was born in January 2020 with funding from the Ibero-American Science and Technology Program for the development (CYTED Program) to integrate groups of research that had in common the visibility, recognition and strengthening of the impact of women in innovation ecosystems. Currently, six countries participate in project : Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Spain and Peru.
