More than 70 attendees at the I workshop of update in Pharmacy at campus in Madrid.

On April 5, a dozen experts analyzed new treatments and technologies in the field of diabetes.

Last Friday, April 5, the campus of the University of Navarra in Madrid hosted the first workshop of update in Pharmacy organized by the School of Pharmacy and Nutrition. In it, a dozen experts analyzed the latest technologies and treatments applied to patients with diabetes, an ailment that affects one in eleven adults in the world.

Among the main specialists were Dr. Javier Escalada, specialist in Endocrinology and Nutrition of the Clínica Universidad de NavarraDr. Javier Escalada, a specialist in Endocrinology and Nutrition at the University of Navarra, who explained the most relevant chronic complications; Óscar López de Briñas, for his part, spoke about his experience as an expert patient with the new technologies applied to the treatment of the disease. Óscar is also the author of the blog Reflexiones de un Jedi Azucarado.

Two workshops on Education of the diabetic patient were also held at workshop -at position by José Barboza, clinical pharmacist at Moffitt Cancer Center Hospital in Florida- and a workshop on insulin pump management, given by diabetes technicians from Medtronic.

Finally, the final discussion focused on the new horizons and challenges in the approach to the disease from the point of view of research and therapeutic positioning.
