The students of the Master's Degree in Palliative Care Nursing of the School Nursing of the University of Navarra will be able to carry out their internships at Our Lady's Hospice in Dublin and at the University of Bolognathanks to the agreements of partnership between the School of Nursing and both centers.

According to the director of Master's Degree María Arantzamendi, "with these agreements the university has made a qualitative leap, an increase in quality". Regarding the first of them, the main reason Arantzamendi argues is "the fact of having an internationally renowned partner , in addition to strengthening the professional and friendly relations that for years the School of Nursing has maintained with Philip Larkin, president of the association Irish Palliative Care, Adjunct Professor of Clinical Nursing at the University College of Dublin, as well as author of many articles in this area". But in addition, this agreement "offers a highly formative experience to the students of Master's Degree for the professional enrichment that involves internships in an innovative and pioneering center in Palliative Care as the Our Lady's hospice and work with prestigious professionals in this subject, to know another health system with another organization, other ways of doing and thinking," he says.

As a curious fact, he points out that it was in England and Dublin where the "hospice" movement, now called "Palliative Care", was born between the 19th and 20th centuries thanks to the Irish Sisters of Charity.

A unique Master's Degree specialization program
Arantzamendi recalls that one of the aspects that is most worked on in the School of Nursing, is that of "train students to develop critical and reflective skills and to ask themselves what can be done better and how". "In addition, -in his opinion-, the student who will do an internship at the Dublin center will have a competitive advantage in the marketplace compared to other nursing professionals: first by having completed an Master's Degree Official Nursing Degree in Palliative Care areaThe second is to demonstrate with their internship abroad their international profile skills, at a time when globalization and opening of markets demand nursing professionals capable of addressing international and multicultural audiences". It should be noted that the student interested in doing an internship in this center must have a high level of English, specifically Advanced (c1).

Internships in Italy
The second agreement that has been signed is with the Università di Bologna, Italy. Arantzamendi recalls that this is one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in Europe, along with Oxford or Paris: "It dates back to 1088 and great personalities such as Dante, Petrarca and many prestigious Spanish professionals have studied there doctorate ," says the director.

The agreement will also mean being able to complete the four-week internship of the Master's Degree in Palliative Care Nursing at the University of Bologna. Enthusiasm will be required to make the most of this experience and knowledge medium Italian.
