The director general of Intermalta considers logistics as an "element core topic" in the competitiveness of agri-food companies.

"Logistics is an element core topic to achieve relevant improvements in the processes of business". This was stated by Intermalta's general director , Carlos Álvarez, during his speech at the III workshop of Logistics held at the University of Navarra. The meeting, organized by students at partnership with the Chair of business Volkswagen Navarra-University of Navarra, was attended by more than twenty professionals from the logistics and agri-food sector.

Álvarez gave a global vision of a business in which logistics is a fundamental part. He highlighted the importance of logistical factors, such as planning, proximity to distribution sites and freight costs.

For his part, the director Logistics group Virto, Pedro Becerril, stressed the importance of concepts such as blockchain associated with the management efficient flow of information, where the digitization of data is increasingly important. He also pointed out how in companies involved in the deep-frozen vegetables sector it is core topic the location of plants close to the production areas of raw materials, and the management of the storage of the product in progress.

On the other hand, the Logistics manager of Florette Ibérica, Eduardo Irigoyen, explained the guidelines and internal processes that are carried out in a business specialized in IV Range food, understood as the processing of fresh vegetables and fruits cleaned, cut and packaged for consumption. He also commented on the importance of transportation and the fast service that allows the product to reach the end customer in less than 24 hours.

The event was also attended by the director General Manager of the association of Agro-food Industries of Navarra, La Rioja and Aragon, Cristina Lecumberri, who moderated the meeting and highlighted the role of this sector in Navarra.
