Three researchers from the University of Navarra's CIMA obtain Juan de la Cierva contracts

The Ministry of Education and Science has awarded this financial aid to doctors Mª Ujué Latasa, Laura Sesma and Arantxa González.

Mª Ujué Latasa Sada, Laura Sesma Aguirre and Arantxa González Miqueo, scientists of the research center Médica Aplicada (CIMA) of the University of Navarra, have obtained the "Juan de la Cierva" contract. This financial aid, granted by the Ministry of Education and Science, is aimed at the employment of doctors by Centers of research and development (research and development).

The initiative, which develops one of the lines of action of the National Human Resources Empowerment Program, aims to strengthen the research capacity of groups and institutions.

Pharmacy graduates and Biochemistry

Apart from the research merits of the candidates and of the groups of research they join, the requirements necessary to achieve the financial aid are mainly: not to exceed three years since obtaining the doctorate and that the beneficiary joins a center other than the one where he/she defended his/her doctoral thesis .

Mª Ujué Latasa, a graduate in Pharmacy, has spent two years as a postdoctoral fellow at high school Cochin in Paris. She will soon join the area Gene Therapy and Hepatology department at CIMA, where she will work with Dr. Matías ávila. Laura Sesma, who has a degree in Pharmacy, has been doing research for the past year at the area Gene Therapy and Hepatology and at the Proteomics Unit of this center with Dr. Fernando J. Corrales. Finally, Biochemistry Arantxa González works at area in Cardiovascular Sciences, directed by Dr. Javier Díez.
