Families were the protagonists in the activities that the Science Museum of the University of Navarra and the Pamplona Planetarium organized on Saturday to commemorate World Environment Day (June 5).
Adults enjoyed a exhibition of pieces from the Science Museum while the younger children carried out various activities aimed at environmental awareness and the use of resources manager :"A vegetable garden in your hands" is a fun seed planting workshop with disposable pots; in the "Paint and color" they were able to paint drawings with natural motifs and make faces of their favorite animals; in the "toy workshop" the children were able to take home some that they made themselves with recycled material; and the "observation at the magnifying glass" was the icing on a cake in which the children were able to view different insects under microscopes.
This event has as goal environmental awareness and the transmission to society of the importance of caring for the planet as explained by Dr. Maria Casas, coordinator of the group of Environmental Volunteers (Volamb) of the University of Navarra: "Caring for the environment is a task for everyone, it is the responsibility of young people but also adults". In this sense, those attending the workshop on Saturday were able to make an individual environmental commitment on a mural located in the activities tent.
Every year the School of Sciences and the Science Museum of the University of Navarra celebrate World Environment Day with a family plan that aims to transmit to the Navarrese society the importance of caring for the natural environment.
