Jokin de Irala, appointed Corresponding Member of the Pontifical Academy for Life
This institution has as goal the promotion of programs of study on the main topics of bioethics and law, related to the defense of life.
Professor Jokin de Irala, Associate Dean of the School of Medicine of the University of Navarra, has been appointed corresponding member of the Pontifical Academy for Life.
The Pontifical Academy for Life was founded by Pope John Paul II in 1994, and has as goal promote the progress of the programs of study on the main themes of bioethics and law, relative to the promotion and defense of life.
Professor de Irala holds a PhD in Medicine from the University of Navarra, a PhD in Public Health from the University of Massachusetts and Full Professor from Preventive Medicine and Public Health. He currently directs the project multidisciplinary "Education of Affectivity and Human Sexuality" at Institute for Culture and Society of the University of Navarra.
In 1983, Jokin de Irala, together with other young students of the University of Navarra, founded the association "Jóvenes Pro Vida de Navarra". Since then he has been actively involved in non-governmental organizations that promote the research and the knowledge dissemination of the Education and family orientation, the Education affective-sexual of young people and natural family planning.
He is married to Beatriz San Julián Aranguren and they have five children.
