The School of Education and Psychology celebrates the VIII International high school diploma Monograph Fair.

Last Friday, the School of Education and Psychology celebrated the eighth edition of the Monograph Fair aimed at first year students of the International Baccalaureate (IB) high school diploma program as well as teachers. This year, 26 schools from more than ten autonomous communities participated, with a total of 703 participants, of which 491 were students and 212 teachers. The goal of this fair was to share good practices in the different research methodologies, offering students guidance for the realization of their monographic work . In addition, these workshops have provided students with a unique opportunity to deepen their research, with the support of teachers and IB researchers with extensive experience in their respective disciplines.
This fair featured seven online sessions, focused on research in various areas of knowledge: experimental sciences, foreign language , physics, Philosophy, history, language and literature, and mathematics.
International speakers with extensive IB high school diploma experience
This edition counted with the participation of national and international speakers with a deep knowledge of the IB high school diploma program, backed by their extensive experience in both teaching and assessment of the program.
Throughout the sessions, the speakers offered the students core topic guidelines for the preparation of a successful monograph. Among the main tips were: the importance of choosing a topic that is of interest to staff and that also provides knowledge to those who read it, the formulation of relevant research questions, the importance of structuring the monograph well, the choice of the appropriate research methodology to answer the questions posed, criteria for the correct choice of the relevant bibliography , the importance of citation to avoid plagiarism, as well as the use of data instructions according to the discipline of study.
All the speakers agreed on the importance of critical thinking in the development of a work of this subject, as well as the need to organize well the time dedicated to each stage of the research process. They also stressed the importance of managing the motivation and emotions that may arise during the development the work.
To conclude, the students had the opportunity to ask questions and receive personalized answers, which allowed them to clarify concepts and strengthen their approach research, to ask questions about it and to obtain a personalized answer for each doubt raised.
A new edition is being prepared for February 2026, aimed at prospective students high school diploma prospective students from all IB schools in Spain. This event will give them the opportunity to participate and receive guidance on how to correctly approach and structure their IB monograph.
