"We are witnessing a complicated history. The first victim of a war is usually the truth, but through literature one can get closer to those essential truths that shine beyond the interests of each one". This was stated at the University of Navarra by Lorenzo Silva, award Planeta 2012. The novelist has given the workshop"Writing as a reading of the world: historical and detective novel", organized by the School of Philosophy and Letters of the academic center, in the framework of the new Degree in language and Spanish Literature + Creative Writing, which will be launched next academic year 2022-23.

During the meeting, which was attended by fifty schoolchildren from more than twenty schools in Navarre, Lorenzo Silva has claimed literature as "a way of transmitting knowledge about the world around us", beyond an artistic expression in search of beauty. In this sense, he pointed out the importance of novels about realities, events or specific people, "help readers to improve their knowledge about these realities or, at least, do not contribute to devalue or distort them".

The writer also shared some techniques that he considers important for the process of literary creation, alluding to two genres that he has developed over the last decades: the historical and the detective. Thus, in his speech he stressed the importance of documentation and active listening, among others.

Lorenzo Silva is the first guest of the new Degree in language and Spanish Literature, a pioneering offer in Spain, which is aimed at students with cultural concerns. It will have a diploma of specialization in Creative Writing, which will train students in literary creation in its different genres, as well as in the world publishing house and management cultural. Their training in the good use of language will also allow them to work in copywriting, audiovisual, business, institutional and literary linguistic consulting, or to work in the teaching of Spanish using the technologies demanded by today's communication and culture.

On the other hand, a diploma in Language Sciences will also be offered, which will enable the student to work in areas related to new technologies and applied linguistics, such as experimental phonetics, assessment and intervention of language pathologies, speech recognition or automatic translation.
