The Museum of Natural Sciences of the University of Navarra has loaned an Asian wasp nest to the Ilundáin Foundation for the 2014 academic year. The goal is to complement the contents and resources of the environmental Education program"Beekeeper for a day" that the entity usually offers through its Farm-School section. This program has started with the visit of the 4th year students of Education Primary of the high school Santa Teresa (Teresianas) of Pamplona.

The Asian wasp nest, about 40 centimeters in diameter, will be visited during this school year by more than 2,000 children from kindergarten and primary school. The aim of this resource is to raise awareness about the environmental problem caused by the introduction of exotic species and, in particular, the presence of this wasp, which is causing the gradual disappearance of bee hives.

Dr. Enrique Baquero, professor at department of Environmental Biology of the University of Navarra, has been the person manager of the transfer to Mikel Lasarte, coordinator of the Ilundáin Farm-School program.
