Nutri+ experts participate in a seminar on the gender perspective in food and nutrition. research
Researchers from the School of Pharmacy and Nutrition participated last week in a new session of training of project Nutri+, which aims to improve the nutrition of the elderly and people with special needs and is funded by the Government of Navarra.
The seminar, developed in online format, was given by Mª Teresa Ruiz Cantero, professor of Preventive Medicine and Public Health of the University of Alicante, who addressed the "gender perspective in research related to health".
Thus, during her talk at exhibition, the researcher stressed the importance of applying the scientific method taking into account both sexes, both in the design of experiments, in their performance and in the interpretation of results. "In science, the lack of interest in gender differences can not only be detrimental to health, but can also lead to missed opportunities for innovation," she said.
The session was also attended by members of the other institutions and companies that are part of the consortium that is carrying out the nutritional study, and those points of special interest related to this aspect were discussed at project .
