The file General makes 14 new personal collections available to researchers.

The documents belong to different prominent figures of the Spanish political and intellectual scene.

The file General of the University of Navarra, after a laborious work of installation, arrangement and archival description, has made available to researchers 14 new documentary collections of different personalities of the Spanish political and intellectual scene. 

These documentary collections, most of them staff , are a source of basic information for the historicalresearch , and allow us to know which were the lines of thought that took place, mainly, throughout the Spanish twentieth century.

The 14 new personal funds
  • Pablo Beltrán de Heredia y CastañoPablo Beltrán Beltrán de Heredia y Castaño: Spanish writer, publisher and historian, noted for his numerous cultural and political initiatives. He created the Altamira School and launched several publishing collections with books by leading cultural figures. For all these reasons, he is considered one of the great intellectual and cultural references linked to Cantabria during the second half of the 20th century.

  • Miguel Sancho IzquierdoMiguel Sancho Izquierdo: Essayist and philosopher, he was also a procurator in the Spanish Parliament due to his condition of President of the University of Zaragoza. At the same university he began as a professor, at the same time he directed the newspaper El Noticiero and participated in politics.

  • Ramón Pardo de Santayana y SuárezHe was Governor of Spanish West Africa (1954), National Chief of Passive Defense (1959-1960) and Director General of Civil Protection (1960-1964).

  • Hermenegildo Altozano MoraledaDuring his degree program he held various positions in the civil and military administration. He was General Auditor of the Navy, Civil Governor of Seville, President of the Mortgage Bank of Spain and member of the private committee of the Count of Barcelona.

  • José Luis Álvarez ÁlvarezSpanish lawyer and politician, he was Mayor of Madrid, Minister of Transport and Communications, as well as University Secretary of the Popular Party and member of the commission in charge of the essay of the agreements between the Spanish State and the Holy See.

  • Javier Martinez de BedoyaSpanish lawyer, journalist and politician. During the Civil War, from October 1936, he worked together with Mercedes Sanz high school program in the creation and operation of "Auxilio de Invierno", later "Auxilio Social". Appointed Director General de Beneficencia in 1938, he left position in 1939 and opened his law firm in Madrid.

  • Francisco Sintes ObradorSecretary of organization of the congress of Pax Romana in Spain (1946), he was part of the Executive committee of the International Organization of Catholic Intellectuals. University Secretary of the high school of Hispanic Culture. Director General of Archives and Libraries (1951-1956).

  • Licinio de la source y de la sourceLicinio de la Licinio: Spanish politician, lawyer and businessman. He was Civil Governor and Provincial Head of the Movement in the province of Cáceres (1956-1960) and Minister of work (1969-1975).

  • Carlos Rodríguez de ValcárcelNational Advisor of the Movement and National Chief of the S.E.U. In 1946 he was appointed Civil Governor and Provincial Chief of the Movement of Cadiz, and later Director General of Technical Education (1956).

  • Pedro Jaime MatheuFormer Consul General of several countries, member of the International Olympic committee and editor-correspondent of several newspapers.

  • Pérez de Seoane FamilySeveral family branches can be distinguished, and different titles and lineages, such as Lords of Molins, Lords of Pozorubio, Counts of Villaleal, Counts of Pinohermoso and Counts of Velle.

  • Luis Cebrián MezquitaHe was one of the great poets of the late nineteenth century, and his literary activity was developed in the environment of Lo Rat Penat, an institution of which he was co-founder and president between 1889 and 1891. Chronicler of the city of Valencia, he cultivated the research historical folklore.

  • Melchor Ferrer DalmauMelchor Ferrer Dalmau: Journalist and historian, he was born into a Carlist family in Mataró. He wrote Historia del Tradicionalismo Español, and directed, among many newspapers, Reacció and La Protesta.

  • Juan Castañón de MenaArchitect, engineer, geographer and military. He was promoted to Lieutenant General in 1965, and was appointed Chief of the Military Household and Minister of the Army.
