6 students of the second year of the Nursing program of the University of Navarra ( School ) have traveled to Peru to work as volunteers at the Santa Teresa Clinic (Abancay). The project of cooperation has been carried out in partnership with Tantaka, time and solidarity bank of the university.
Fernando Gárate (2nd year Nursing), one of the students involved in project, defines cooperation as "giving oneself to others. It is the essence of our profession at its highest level". Fernando is the second year that he participates in an international project like this one and affirms that "this subject of activities always gives you more than you give and also directly related to your future profession".
During the project "the tasks are very varied, which allows us to rotate and learn different things. We assist in the clinic with small interventions, cures, evaluations, etc. We also carry out medical campaigns and work in a nursing home and an orphanage," says Andrea Ongay (2nd year Nursing).
