Ruth Breeze, the new scientific co-director of the Institute for Culture and Society

The president of the University of Navarra, María Iraburu, has appointed Prof. Ruth Breeze as scientific co-director of the Institute for Culture and Societyposition , which she will share with Professor Pablo Perez, the current scientific director . Professor Breeze joined the group from research 'Public discourse' in 2014 and in 2019 assumed the position as principal investigator following the retirement of Manuel Casado. In addition, she has been accredited as a professor by AQU since 2021. In 2022 she joined the newly created committee scientific Intern of the ICS. 

The ICS wanted to recover the figure of the scientific co-director to reinforce the scientific direction and to support the new projects and transversal initiatives that have emerged in recent years. 

Breeze obtained her licentiate degree and Master's Degree in Modern Philology from the University of Cambridge. She completed a Master's Degree at Education at the Open University and subsequently received her PhD in Philosophy and Letters from the University (2006).

He joined the University in 1989. Her main fields of teaching have been professional communication and analysis of speech. She was director of the institute of modern languages from 2002 to 2014. During those years she worked, among other issues, on the integration of language and professional communication subjects in the new programs of study plans of Degree and Master's Degree, and on the expansion of special courses for the general public. She was the manager of the Institute's Cambridge English examination center for 23 years.
