How to ensure that student learning is not replaced by the use of tools such as ChatGPT? How to evaluate a work in which an AI tool has been used? Should I penalize its use or could I use it to improve teaching? These are some of the questions that university professors face every day. To provide guidance on these new pedagogical challenges in the age of AI, the University of Navarra has published the EurekAIguide , a pedagogicalmodel that addresses the integration of artificial intelligence in the classroom. The free initiative, available online and freely accessible to the educational community, aims to help teachers reflect on the use of AI in their classes and to accompany them in the challenge of developing the necessary skills to integrate Artificial Intelligence in their teaching processes.
The guide is aimed at teachers who are interested and curious about the possibilities presented by AI. In its pages, teachers can find the opportunities presented by the tool in the new educational ecosystem, the ethical considerations of its use and the main challenges it poses. It includes a self-diagnosistool in which teachers can check their level of competence in each of the areas proposed by the EurekAI model , based on the European framework DigCompEdu. At the end of the process, the tool offers an extensive and personalized report on the professor 's training and suggestions on the next steps for competence development .
"Beyond presenting useful tools for teaching, this guide seeks to open a space for reflection: when it is appropriate to use AI, to what extent it can support critical thinking or meaningful learning, and in what contexts it can, on the contrary, hinder student development ," explains Alejandro N. García, professor at the University of Navarra and member of the EurekAI group . "Theeducational challenge we face in the age of AI is not primarily technology, but pedagogy," he concludes.
The proposal arises from an increasingly present reality: "Artificial Intelligence is already a tool that our students use intensively. Ignoring this fact is not an option. Therefore, EurekAI was born as an initiative to accompany the faculty -and in the future also the student bodyfor its proper integration into the educational processes", adds García.
EurekAI
The EurekAI group is an initiative of the Vice-Rector's Office for teaching , with the partnership of the Professional Programs Unit and the teaching Planning and Improvement Service. Previously, other trainings related to artificial intelligence have been organized with the participation of more than 400 teachers.
