Three professors of the School of Medicine of the University of Navarra, accredited as professors.

They are Dr. Jorge Iriarte, Dean of the School, and Dr. Jorge Quiroga and Dr. Luis Sierrasesúmaga.

Three professors of the School of Medicine of the University of Navarra have been accredited as professors by the National Agency of assessment of the Quality and accreditation ( National Agency for Assessment of Quality and Accreditation), adding to the 26 professors who are already professors or have obtained the accreditation previously. They are Drs. Jorge Quiroga and Luis Sierrasesúmaga, and Dr. Jorge Iriarte, Dean of the School.

A native of Cáseda and graduate in Medicine from the University of Navarra, Dr. Iriarte received his doctorate in 1994. He completed the specialization program in Neurology and Clinical Neurophysiology and from 1994 to 1996 he completed a fellowship in Epilepsy and Clinical Neurophysiology at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago (USA). Accredited as Senior Associate Professor, he was Associate Dean of research and doctorate and since 2010 he is Dean of the School.

His work care is developed in the Neurophysiology Service of the Clinic, where he coordinates the Sleep and Video-EEG Unit. Dr. Iriarte is also the author of four books and more than 90 articles in journals such as Brain, Neurology, Journal of Neurosciences or Epilepsia, among others, in specialization program. He has been distinguished by the Spanish Society of Neurology with the awards for the best work on Epilepsy published in 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006, and the best work on Sleep in 2007.

Specialists in Hepatology and Pediatrics

Dr. Jorge Quiroga, for his part, is graduate in Medicine from the University of Santiago de Compostela and doctor, with award Extraordinary, from the University of Navarra. A specialist in Internal Medicine, he completed his training in liver transplantation in the Division of Gastroenterology and in the Transplant Service of the Presbyterian University Hospital of the University of Pittsburgh (USA).

Quiroga is also Deputy Director of the Clínica Universidad de Navarra, director of his department of Internal Medicine, co-director of the area of Digestive Diseases and specialist of the Hepatology Unit. He has directed 12 doctoral thesis and is the author or co-author of 15 chapters in books, 28 articles in national journals and 79 in international journals. His main areas of research are liver cirrhosis and liver transplantation.

The third specialist accredited as Full Professor, Dr. Luis Sierrasesúmaga, is graduate and has a PhD in Medicine from the University of Navarra. A specialist in Pediatrics, he completed a subspecialty in Pediatric Hemato-Oncology with stays at the Christie Hospital, Holt Radium Institute, Manchester (United Kingdom), and the Roswell Park Memorial Institute in Buffalo (New York, USA).

Dr. Sierrasesúmaga holds the certificate of training in Bone Marrow Transplantation of the department of Health of the State of New York. At the same time he is director of the department of Pediatrics of the Clínica Universidad de Navarra. Finally, he has directed 11 doctoral thesis , authored 84 book chapters and published more than 140 articles in national and international scientific journals. His main line of research is the carcinogenesis of childhood solid tumors, the side effects of treatments and their long-term follow-up. deadline
