Jesús M. Hernández, new general Deputy Director CIMA of the University of Navarra
Fernando de la Puente, until now director General Manager of the center, will assume with full dedication the position of director of research and development of the University.
Dr. Jesús M. Hernández has been appointed Deputy Director general of the research center Médica Aplicada (CIMA) of the University of Navarra. Fernando de la Puente is also joining the University with full dedication to his position de director de research and development .
Jesús M. Hernández is graduate in Medicine and holds a PhD from the Complutense University of Madrid, with the specialization program in Microbiology and Infectious Diseases. In 1989 he joined the pharmaceutical company Lilly, where he has held various management positions in the area of research and development+i in Spain, USA and UK. In 2009 he assumed the position of Vice President of research Clinical and Medical Section for Europe. He also has extensive training in the business management , acquired at the London Business School, Harvard Business School and IESE.
As of June 1, Dr. Hernandez will lead the management of the research of CIMA through its four areas: Oncology, Neurosciences, Cardiovascular Sciences, and Gene Therapy and Hepatology. He will help accelerate the evolution of the scientific knowledge into real innovation, drive new partnerships for CIMA and lead research and development+i operations.
Fernando de la Puente was appointed in 2002 director General Manager of CIMA and since 2009 he has combined this position with director of research and development of the University of Navarra, which he will now assume with full dedication. He will be manager of the development of the University's research policies. He is coordinating the implementation of project Horizon 2015 of the Call for Excellence Campus , in which the new center of Humanities and the centers of bioengineering, nutrigenomics and research in neglected diseases are proposed.
Fernando de la Puente holds a law degree from the University of Navarra ( graduate ) and a PDG from IESE. He has been board member and executive secretary of the network OTRI of Spanish Universities and at the University of Navarra he has held the positions of director general of the Scientific and Technological Institute (1988-2002) and director of Publishing Services (1990-2002). Currently, he also directs the Photographic Fund of the University of Navarra and is a professor of Master's Degree of research and development+i of Medicines and of Master's Degree University in Biomedical Engineering.
