Upcoming sessions of the II Ethics and Society Forum

Coordinated by researcher David Thunder with the support of ICS, this forum aims to foster dialogue between researchers, professors and students of postgraduate program from all disciplines, particularly within the Humanities and social sciences.

Five sessions of the II Ethics and Society Forum are planned for the second semester of the 2013-2014 academic year. This forum, open to researchers, professors and students of postgraduate program from all over the campus, has as goal address issues related to the improvement of common life and society, both from the perspective of ethics, legal theory. It is organized by the researcher David Thunder with the partnership of the Institute for Culture and Society (ICS).

On January 21, Alejandro Llano, Full Professor of Metaphysics, will offer the session 'The University in a time of change'. Ana Marta González, professor of Philosophy Moral and academic coordinator of the ICS, will act as discussant.

Juan Pablo Viola, PhD student of department from Philosophy, will speak on 'Thinking subjectivity differently: an approach to the Levinasian Philosophy ' on February 18.

John Perry, lecturer in Theological Ethics at the University of St Andrew's will give a lecture at lecture 'John Locke's Turn to Loyalty: The Origins and Ongoing Problems of Religious Freedom' on March 5.

Politics and Conscience: Three Foundations in Thomas Aquina's Theory of Conscience' will be the degree scroll of the intervention of Ángela Miceli, researcher of the project 'Religion and Civil Society' of the ICS. It will take place on March 18.

The last session will be 'Religion and Politics in Hegel's Philosophy ', at position by Montserrat Herrero, professor of Philosophy politics and senior researcher at project 'Religion and Civil Society'. It will be held on April 8.

The goal of the Ethics and Society Forum is threefold: it aims to be a vehicle to disseminate the work of the ICS among the entire university community, to promote interdisciplinary dialogue and to encourage ICS researchers to receive feedback from other experts on the work they are developing. Four sessions were organized during the first semester of the 2013-2014 academic year.
