A Full Professor of the University receives the award of the Iberoamerican Academy of Pharmacy.

The award is a recognition of the scientific merits of Professor Alfredo Martínez.

Alfredo Martínez, Full Professor of the University of Navarra, has been distinguished with the award of the Iberoamerican Academy of Pharmacy. goal Awarded by the institution itself, its purpose is to reward the scientific merits of outstanding researchers in this area and to stimulate their dedication and vocation to science.

The jury thus recognizes his brilliant career focused on programs of study on the hormonal and nutritional regulation of metabolism, and on obesity in animal models and in man.

The submission will be held on January 21 during the opening ceremony of the Ibero-American Academy of Pharmacy to be held in Granada.

Alfredo Martínez Hernández is Full Professor of Nutrition and Bromatology at the University of Navarra and directs the department of Physiology and Nutrition of the School of Pharmacy. Since 1995 he has also been director of the Distance Courses in Nutrition and Health of this academic center and of the Line of research in Nutrition and Obesity. In 2002 he was appointed co-director of the Institute of Food Science and member of the committee of assessment of the Quality professor and Research of Portugal, Ireland and Switzerland.

advisor He was president of the Spanish Society of Nutrition (1999-2001) and was appointed corresponding member of the Royal Academy of Pharmacy (1997). He is also a member of the Spanish Federation of Nutrition, Food and Dietetics Societies (FESNAD) and secretary of the European Federation of Nutrition Societies (FENS).

The work of research (more than 400 publications) of this professor has focused particularly on the research of obesity in cellular and animal models, and on the study of nutritional intervention in humans.
