A work by María Buñuales, researcher at laboratory Cancer Gene Therapy, and Conchita Tros de Ilarduya, professor at School of Pharmacy at the University of Navarra, has received the award NORMON award from the Royal National Academy of Pharmacy. The study has counted with the partnership of the group of Dr. Nejat Düzgünes, from the University of the Pacific in San Francisco (California, USA).

The award NORMON annually recognizes the best work on research and development of galenic formulations. Researchers from the University of Navarra presented a study graduate "New 'targeted' dosage forms formulated in the presence of epidermal growth factor (EGF) as vehicles in cancer gene therapy". It addresses how to improve gene transfection efficacy by applying new therapeutic strategies. "Instead of directly delivering the drug, the corresponding gene that is capable of expressing it is administered, which has several advantages," the authors explain.

The submission of award will be held on January 21 at the Royal National Academy of Pharmacy, in Madrid.
