Eight women's soccer teams conference room participate in the Inés de Pablo Tournament at the University.
The charity meeting , in favor of research against cancer, will remember the medical student who died last year.
Eight teams are participating in the sports center of the University of Navarra in a women's soccer tournament conference room in honor of Inés de Pablo, who died of cancer last September at the age of 23. A medical student from Bilbao, she was diagnosed with a rare tumor just a few months before the end of her studies programs of study. Despite this and the treatments, she managed to graduate.
Inés De Pablo was a member of the women's soccer team at the University of Navarra, as well as of the academic center's Sports Talent Program . After her death, her friends and teammates decided to launch a charity tournament, the proceeds of which will be donated in full to the group Spanish Society of Infrequent Orphan TumorsThe proceeds will go entirely to the Spanish Society for Infrequent Orphan Tumors, such as the one suffered by Pablo, called "signet ring cell tumor".
"The initiative came about naturally; our grief over her death helped us to encourage each other and organize it," says Bea Quintilla, one of the organizers. "She had a passion for soccer. She gave her all in every game until the very last moment. For us, she has been an example of total struggle, in every sense," she adds.
In addition to the tournament, there will be activities for the little ones, such as bingo, face painting, twister, among other activities.
Kick-off and commemorative remarksThe teams participating in the tournament are Las Kukis, Huarte, Takontxines, Pangea, Unav, Nothingam miedo, Opg and Cojas. Before the final is played, the organizers will say a few words of thanks, which will give way to the kick of honor, to position of the parents of Inés de Pablo. "They have given us their support from the beginning and have helped us get the tournament off the ground," says Quintilla. "I think the most important thing we've learned is that if you really want something, you can get it. We've also received financial aid from a lot of companies and famous first division players, like Mapi León of Barça," she says.
For fundraising, in addition to the proceeds from ticket sales, piggy banks will be placed at the will of those attending the tournament, and a raffle will be held at 3:00 pm.
