In 1993, University of Navarra professors Juan Antonio Giner and Miguel Urabayen decided to pay tribute to Alejandro Malofiej, an Argentine cartographer considered a pioneer of computer graphics, who died in 1987 and whom Urabayen met during one of his trips to Argentina. The University of Navarra is the repository of his work, as his colleagues Raúl Burzaco and Hilda Mouro donated an important collection of handmade drawings and personal memorabilia.
