José Agüera Muñagorri (Bio 13) has started his professional degree program in a pharmaceutical laboratory In an environment where in principle his training is not the most demanded, José affirms that biologists are more than qualified to enter all Departments of the sector.
- What has the Degree in Biology given you to perform your current work?
- Above all, it has given me the basic notions about the functioning of the human body, both at the cellular level and at more complex levels. In the pharmaceutical sector it is very important to have this knowledge financial aid , to enter the sector and to move up in it.
- Is there room for biologists in the pharmaceutical sector?
- Although most of them are pharmacists, companies are aware that biologists are more than qualified to develop in all Departments of the sector.
- How do you apply your knowledge as a biologist on a daily basis?
- Apart from the knowledge we were talking about, at the beginning in order to be able to do different events and work in Marketing it is necessary to be up to date with the latest scientific publications. So I apply not only the purely biological knowledge , but also statistics and everything related to clinical trials.
- Do you think it would be positive to have more training in marketing and communication during the programs of study of Degree of science majors?
- Absolutely! It is essential to know all the opportunities offered by our training.
- What are your medium-term plans for your professional development ?
- I have been at department marketing for a while now. I'd like to go through the commercial department when I get the chance. And after that, I don't know, there are so many options! What is clear is that I will continue training, also in languages, which are essential in this increasingly globalized sector.
