The University of Navarra hosts the final Navarra phase of the competition 'Incubator of probes and experiments'.
A score of young people from high school diploma and ESO aspire to represent the Community of Navarre in the national phase, which will be held at the UPNA from July 2 to 4.
The Institute for Culture and Society (ICS) of the University of Navarra will host next Monday, June 17, the final phase of Navarra of the statistics competition 'Incubator of polls and experiments'. This is a competition aimed at students of ESO, high school diploma and Degree Medio of the region. Among the winning groups, the jury will select the Navarre representative or representatives in the national phase, to be held at the Public University of Navarra (UPNA) from 2 to 4 July 2019.
Twenty young people from IES Benjamín de Tudela, high school San Cernin, high school Calasanz and IES Padre Moret-Irubide will present their statistics projects, which address issues such as alcohol in minors; rest, nutrition and sports in adolescents; and feminism in the home, among other topics.
The initiative is organized by the Science Unit of data of the ICS and the department of Statistics and research Operative of the UPNA, with the partnership of the Navarra Society of Mathematics Teachers "TORNAMIRA" - Matematika Irakasleen Nafar Elkartea, the high school of Statistics of Navarra (IEN), the delegation of the high school National Statistics in Navarra and the department of Education of the Government of Navarra.
The jury is composed of Laura Arnedo Ajona (NASTAT), María José Asiain (UPNA), Cesar Benjamín Berra de Ursua (INE), Rafael Rivera Martín (department of Education and TORNAMIRA) and Stella Maris Salvatierra (University of Navarra).
submission of awardsThe objectives of this competition are to promote the teaching and learning of Statistics at non-university educational levels; to complement knowledge and skills, as well as to disseminate the importance and usefulness of Statistics, Probability and Operational research in real life and in all academic disciplines.
In addition, it aims to awaken in the student body interest in these subjects as fundamental tools in the sciences; to familiarize them with the different stages in the realization of a statistical project ; and to teach them to interpret the different statistical information, as well as to encourage a critical spirit.
